Top 10 Reasons to be Excited About the Future of Bikes for Transportation
We’ve always had high hopes for the future of bikes; they’re compact forces for good and joy in an increasingly chaotic world (see: 2020). A past presenter at our annual Bike Forum — Susan Handy, Director of the National Center for Sustainable Transportation at UC Davis — summed up how we’ve been feeling lately:
“The bicycle has sometimes been called ‘the world’s greatest invention.’ In recent months, we have perhaps come to appreciate its value more than ever.”
Before the pandemic hit, we asked our staff: “What excites you most about the future of bikes for transportation?” Below are the top 10 reasons they cited, and we’re astounded by how true these ring now, buttressed by a global cycling boom.
